Week 3

This week, I had my first presentation in Spanish, and it went better than I thought it would! Although it was only five minutes long, I was not permitted to use a slide deck or images to assist me. I was unsure how to talk for five minutes in formal Spanish and at first was very challenged by this assignment.

I prepared by first developing a storyline/concept for my presentation in English, then wrote a script in Spanish. From here, I practiced several times by reading the script to allow myself to absorb the information and get an idea of what the presentation might sound like if I executed it “perfectly.” Next, I jotted down bullet points of the topics I intended to cover in Spanish, as well as some of the words I had struggled with when rehearsing. This process allowed me to improve my Spanish speaking as well as presentation skills, which both received praise from my classmates and teachers after I presented.
